W.D. Boyce brought Scouting to America from England in 1910. The program came to our two counties a year later in 1911. The year 1937 saw the two counties merge into one local Council which today is a non-profit corporate operating with volunteer officers and a volunteer board of directors. The Council employs 11 professional staff and 5 office staff and serves about 10,000 youth through the Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting, Venturing and Learning for Life programs.
The Community Foundation welcomes all donors with varied interests and giving capabilities including individuals, foundations, and corporations. The CFFC staff offers relevant investment guidance to donors, manages fund accounts, and connects donors with appropriate non-profit agencies.
We make it easy for individuals to become philanthropists by creating charitable funds. We prepare all documents, and the procedure can often be completed in one meeting. If you are interested in creating a fund, please consider the following steps:
It's also easy for charitable organizations with endowments to create an "agency" endowment fund, and the same procedures can be followed. The CFFC will hold donated funds and provide the organization with a 5% or annual market value return on investments. This allows the organization to securely plan annual budgets using a guaranteed return.
